The photograph was taken on a stormy day with grey clouds in the sky and an overall overcast looking desert scene. The bottom of the picture shows the surface of the area and looks like desert sand but hard forming rounding shapes. On the left side of the photo is a sand mountain made with many rounded pillars that are side-by-side to form the mountain and are the color of sand. The pillars look like they were made layer by layer over a long period of time. In the background are several other sand mountains.
