A New King of Saudi Arabia

Crown Prince Abdullah bin Abdul Aziz was proclaimed the sixth King of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia on August 1, 2005, upon the death of Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Fahd bin Abdul Aziz. Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah bin Abdul Aziz is also Prime Minister of the Council of Ministers and Commander of the National Guard.
He had previously acted as de facto regent and thus ruler of Saudi Arabia since 1995 when King Fahd was incapacitated by a major stroke. He was formally enthroned on August 3, 2005, but he inherited the title of King immediately after the death of his half-brother. Monday, September 12
Simple Funeral

In Saudi Arabia no caskets are used when a person is buried. Usually the women in the family clean and prepare the body for the funeral by wrapping it in a cloth. The photo above shows the body of the late King Fahd being carried to his grave site by male family members after it arrived to the grave yard in an ambulance, which is the usual method of transportation.
